2013 saw us make our first and second trips to the Lough in the Cork city.
The first time saw me and Joe heading down for a hybrid trip with Ross Macklin and Sydney Kennedy of Lee reservoir angling services. The lads are two of Irelands top anglers and if they cant get you catching noone can as they have pioneered the fishing in the area.
As we had a few hours to spare first stop on our itinerary was our first ever trip to the famous Lough.
Not knowing really what to expect, we met up with Ross and he took us on a walk around the lake, Stopping every now and again to point out were the fish were actively feeding churning up the bottom.
We picked our swim and before we could get a second rod together I was into my very first carp. I was shocked just how quickly it had happened and was now holding my much dreamt of fish!
Next up was Joe and soon he was celebrating his first carp too.
it continued on like this for a few hours with Ross pulling fish out like there was no tomorrow.
Due to inexperience me and Joe lost a fair few but we ended up with four each from about 4lb to 14.06lb
All too soon we had to drag ourselves away for session number two after the hybrids. What a day it was turning out to be…. delighted.
We had learned so much in our time with the lads and had a laugh all along the way. Roll on next trip…..
