Leitrim Tench

We started fishing for Tench In 2010 with a trip to Cha Flynns cottage.
Cha Flynns is owned by Brian Bohan. Brian is an irish International and represented Ireland in South Africa 2013. He can also pull a tench out of any puddle in the midlands and his knowledge of the region is second to none.

We had an amazing week at the cottage, we were blessed that week with gorgeous weather.
We were down at the private ramp every morning and were soon getting to grips with the tench. The first fish was an omen as Aidan on his first cast caught a 10lb fully scaled mirror carp. We were shocked as this was a never before caught carp….. happy days

I can only say I was blown away by the strength of tench when on light gear… there are few better fights what a fish.

We had always read that tench are a mostly dawn fish however a lot of mornings tenching we didnt start caching till ten o clock…. maybe its an early Spring thing
Since our trip with Brian we have returned to the Leitrim area many times with varying degrees of success…. sometimes bagging up but lots of blanks too.

2013 saw us tench fishing just once which turned out to be a blank with the late Spring.
In 2014 we plan on continuing the tench search so fingers crossed
