Twaithe shad 04.05.14

We took a spin down to St.Mullins on Saturday morning. We only had a couple of hours as we were to be back in Dublin for twelve for a childrens party. We had a few fish each, but nothing of any size, the biggest 1lb 12oz, but a really enjoyable morning just getting up close to this species again this year. The sound of the birds singing, punctuated by the whish of many spinning rods casting more or less at once, is something unique to St.Mullins! We met many anglers, all giving it their annual bash including Terry Jackson and Sidney Kennedy so it’s a great social event too.  Aidan had a small trout also but all to soon we had to head home. I wish we had of had more time but we will be down again sometime soon.
