Searching for river pike

It was me and Joe on this fishing trip due to work commitments Paddy could not make it. It was new year’s day and we headed off at five in the morning to get to the mark for first light,we decided to fish a river looking for some pike, we decided to keep mobile and fish the float, we had a few deadbaits with us.
Mack, smelt, lamprey using drop and draw method. When we got there the river was very high but we still gave it a go. We walked down river casting every couple of feet looking for a take, the weather was poxy and getting worse so after four hours we stopped for breakfast, so back to the van for hot coffee and a fry up, thanks Joe you’re some cook…After a short chat we decided to move to a lough beside the river, first cast I got a knock then the float shot under I was inπŸ˜†7 . 6 lps on the mac…

We were both happy to get a fish to get The blood pumping to warm us up. It was getting late in the day and we were hoping for a bigger one so we baited backup with mack and cast out . We were having a bit of laugh sagging each other about fishing as we always do when joes floatshot under he was in πŸ˜† great scrap i grabbed the net, Joe played the pike like a expert πŸ˜†and it was in the net, nice one 15 lbs few photos and it swim off strong..We gave it another half an hour but was time to pack up, going to try the river again the next time the condition are better till next time tight lines!!!hopefully
